Entries open for National Cupcake Championships 2012
The competition will again be a chance for professional cupcake makers to shine, and demonstrate just why consumers love these sweet bakery treats. However, the competition is not just about the kudos of being crowned National Cupcake Champion. Those who make the shortlist will be invited to an exclusive event at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, on 2 July, where they will get to meet like-minded cupcake makers from across the UK. Not only will they get to benchmark their cupcakes against the best the country has to offer, it will be an opportunity to share business advice and make invaluable contacts.
The competition will reward seven separate categories and ultimately crown an overall National Cupcake Champion 2012. 2012 Categories:
- Themed Cupcake of the Year
- Free-from cupcake of the Year
- Best Cupcake Made with Alcohol
- Best Cupcake Handcrafted for Multiple Outlets
- Micro-modelled Cupcake of the Year
- Savoury Cupcake of the Year
- New! Classic Cupcake

This year will see the fourth annual National Cupcake Week. Taking place from 17-23 September, the week will once again celebrate the huge popularity of the glorious cupcake, as well as help the baking industry to market these products. As well as the celebratory week in September, British Baker will again be hosting its National Cupcake Championships competition to find the best professional cupcake makers.
